HI, I'M KIRSTEN

Movement has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I spent much of my adolescent and teenage years playing competitive sports, where my love for running also surfaced. It was during these years that I had succumbed to many injuries as a young athlete and my appreciation for yoga was born from the physical and emotional healing it provided me. 

​

Not knowing if my career after post-secondary would take me into performance or rehabilitative practices, I decided to explore the space between the two, and after eight years of being a student to yoga, I took to warmer coastlines and completed my 200 hour Yoga teacher training (YTT) at Nexus Yoga institute. There was no denying that my experience at Nexus enhanced my love and appreciation for movement and provided me with a deeper understanding of our reflective consciousness, that we most often refer to as “the self”. But it was during my training where I was finally able to exercise my true passion for what yoga meant to me; and that is to heal, in all our forms. Yoga is the space in which we can so freely explore our boundaries, discover our breakthroughs and capture the beauty of the human experience.

 

My intention in Mocean, is to provide a space for individuals to find a harmonious balance of intention, experience and purpose. The foundation of my practice combines the physical with an inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating these pillars of movement and awareness, I strive to promote an understanding of the interdependency of all these aspects in your personal health and wellbeing so that you can move better on purpose.
